Have you noticed how GoldMine's main phone fields automatically format the phone number with parentheses and hyphen? You enter 2483998524 and GoldMine auto-formats it as (248)399-8524.

If you'd like to have this same "magic" in a user-defined field, just name your new field UPHONExxxx. For example, a field dedicated to holding a spouse's phone number might be UPHONESPOU. Or a field for the cell phone number might be UPHONECELL.

The magic emanates from naming the field UPHONEsomething. If the first six characters of your new field are UPHONE, GoldMine will treat it, programatically, as a telephone field, and will automate the entry characteristics accordingly.
